About The Report
Amazon’s Product Opportunity Explorer is a research tool that uses customer search and purchase behavior data to locate gaps in the market. With the Product Opportunity Explorer, sellers can identify new product opportunities on Amazon.
You can navigate the report by logging into Seller Central → Growth → Product Opportunity Explorer.
For now, this report is available to Professional Sellers on Amazon US, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy. The report is not available for sellers with the Basic or Individual selling plans.
The tool provides personalized recommendations based on your sales history, performance metrics, and current inventory. Combined with information about consumer demand, the Product Opportunity Explorer points sellers toward the category or subcategory to expand into next.
To make these recommendations, the Product Opportunity Explorer relies on what it calls “niches”—a collection of search terms representing a customer need.
Each niche has a details page that outlines the scope of the niche, including the list of current products within the niche, the top search terms, and statistics about new product launch potential in the niche.
To find a niche relevant to your business, use the “browse and filter” button. Once you find the niche matching your requirements, you can browse through it to find in-depth metrics on the Niche Details page.
There are 4 different tabs in the Niche Details section:
- Products Tab: This tab provides ASIN-level details on all of the products within your given niche, including the ASIN title, category, launch date, average selling price, average customer rating, Average Best Sellers Rank, and much more.
- Search Terms Tab: This tab provides more details about the search terms within a niche. Here, you can find information about the search volume (over the past 360 days), search volume growth (either over a quarter or over a year), search conversion rate (over the past 360 days), click share (over the past 360 days), and more.
- Insights Tab: This tab provides niche-level statistics to help sellers assess the launch potential for new products. Under the Insights tab, you can find in-depth information about the percent of products using Sponsored Products ads, the percent of Prime-eligible products, the top 5 products in terms of their share of clicks over the past 360 days, the number of products launched over the past 180 days, and much more.
- Trends Tab: Here you can see how certain metrics, like search volume, product count, average price, search conversion rate, and selling partner count, have shifted over the last 360 days in your specific niche.
